Configurable Marketplaces
This work focuses on the establishment of a dynamically configurable virtual marketplace allowing resource discovery
and trading activities to occur against ontologies defined in specific domains on a decentralised, peer-to-peer basis.
Each virtual marketplace is based on one or more fundamental ontologies that users can unilaterally augment to allow
more precise definition of their individual commercial objectives. Additionally a series of distinct roles can be
nominated for actors in specific markets allowing for further definition of expected trading choreography between
participants. Support is provided for two distinct styles of marketplace interaction: query/advertisement and
publish/subscribe and users can request standardized or custom styles of matchmaking to occur against their trading
requests.
Two distinct prototypes have been established and are subject to ongoing development in the areas of Securities Lending
and Over the Counter (OTC) trading. It is anticipated that this demonstrator will serve as a test-bed for other streams
of project research.
